アメリカ大統領選挙の愚かな共和党候補者達 Idiotic American Republican candidates

In American history, I have never seen such a collection of idiots as the gaggle of present Republican candidates. Yet one of them, stands out. That is Rick Santorum.

短いアメリカの歴史なのに、こう言う共和党候補者群の愚かな集まりは見た事が有りません。しかし、それでも、一人の候補者が目立っています。それは、リック　サントラムさんです。

Why do I mention him? Well, he is a complete Christian Fundamentalist. Yes, I know that he is a Catholic, but he has more support from Evangelical Christians than Catholics. Basically, an Evangelical Christian is the same as a Christian Fundamentalist. And he is a very conservative Catholic, they have more in common with the Christian Fundamentalists than mainstream Catholics.

After the flame out of open Christian Fundamentalist candidates Perry and Bachmann, the Christian Fundamentalist leadership put it's support behind Santorum.

公然の原理主義候補者ペリーさんとバックマンさんのキャンペーン突然挫折で、原理主義キリスト教のリーダー達はサントラムさんを支持しました。

But it was this particular remark that made me notice Mr. Santorum. He said in 2008 that Protestants are no longer Christians.

しかし、この２００８年の宣言で、私はサントラムさんを注目しました。彼はキリスト教プロテスタント宗派はキリスト教ではないと言いました。

As a person born in America, I know what that means. It means that anyone who is not a Christian Fundamentalist has no right to hold any kind of upper rank job or position in American society. Non Christian Fundamentalists will be treated as second class non humans, like slaves.

アメリカで生まれた私は、この意味をよく分かります。その意味は、原理主義キリスト教信者ではない人はアメリカ社会で上位な仕事とか位置の権利は有りません。原理主義キリスト教信者ではない者は人間ではなくて、２級な人、奴隷扱いに成ります。


Santorum says that he does not believe in the separation of Church and State. Well the meaning here is obvious. Christian Fundamentalism is to be the new American State religion if he becomes President.

サントラムさんは教会と国家の分離を信じていないと言っています。この意味は、明らかです。彼が大統領に当選すると、原理主義キリスト教はアメリカの新しい国教でしょう。

The Founding Fathers of the United States of America were very careful to ensure freedom of religion in the Constitution. They did not want a State Religion, they knew what horror religious war could be after seeing it in Europe. They did not want this terror for the new nation.

Yet America is already in part in religious war. There are many efforts all across America to close or prevent Mosques from opening. Some Mosques have been attacked by arson.

Should all this worry us in Japan? After all, America is far away. In the best of times, America is a difficult friend. American governments make many demands on Japan, that we do things their way. This is the nature of American people, that their way is best, and the entire world must change to American ways.

If America has a Christian Fundamentalist Presidency, then many more demands will come from America on how to change our society. They will tell us to make all abortion illegal, to abandon Buddhism and Shintoism, to burn all shrines and temples in Japan.

もしアメリカで原理主義キリスト教大統領がいましたら、アメリカから日本に我々の社会を変える要求がいっぱい来ます。妊娠中絶を違反にして、神道、仏教を辞めなさい、日本に存在する神社とお寺をすべて燃やしなさいと言うような要求が来るでしょう。

Such an America would demand that Japan totally change it's society to fit their kind of strange religion.

With such a Presidency and such demands, any kind of Japanese/American relationship will become unworkable.

そう言う大統領政権とそう言う要求で、いかなる日米関係は不可能に成ります。

The American Christian Right has shown itself to be very reckless. Together with Israel, they are recently pushing hard to start a war with Iran that has no reason, and would be a world disaster.

アメリカ政治キリスト教右派は、とても無謀です。イスラエルと協力して、イランと戦争を始めようとしています。その戦争する理由は有りませんし、始まったら世界経済はすぐ崩壊します。

They don't care. Christian Fundamentalists also attempted to cause an American default last August. It would have been a disaster for America and the world. They don't care how much damage they do in order to gain power.

Can Santorum beat Romney? So far, Romney is ahead, but he has not been able to decisively win over his Republican opponents. Even if he did, the Christian Right is so powerful in the American Republican party, he would have to accede to their demands to get elected.

サントラムさんはロムニーさんに勝ちますか？現在にロムニーさんは先頭ですが、しかし、彼は今までに完璧に勝利を出来ませんでした。彼が勝っても、アメリカ共和党で原理主義キリスト教信者は強力で、ロムニーさんは彼達の要求を従うしかないです。

Could Santorum beat Obama? Well, I am not very happy with the President. I wish he had been able to build electric trains across America. (made in Japan, of course!) I wish that he had been able to withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan. America did not withdraw from Iraq, the Iraqi government threw them out.

サントラムさんはオバマ大統領に勝ちますか？はっきりに言うと、私はオバマ大統領に満足していません。アメリカ全土で電気の電車ネットワークを造ればよかったと思っています。（勿論、日本産！）アフガンとイラク戦争から撤退したらよかったと思っています。アメリカはイラクから自ら撤退ではなく、イラク政府命令で撤退しました。

And I wish that the President had prosecuted those financial leaders responsible for the disaster of 2008.

それと、２００８年経済危機の責任者を起訴したらよかったと思っています。

But I do not think President Obama is crazy enough to start a World War. The Republican candidates seem eager for such a war.

しかし、オバマ大統領は世界戦争を始める無茶な人ではないでしょう。共和党の候補者達はそう言うな戦争をしたくってしょうがないみたいです。

In normal times, I would say that a candidate like Santorum would have no chance at the Presidency. His views are just too far from the mainstream. However, these are not normal times. America is in crisis, and the Christian Right is trying to make that crisis worse to attain power.

普通の時代に、サントラムさんみたいな候補者は、大統領選挙で当選する事は不可能と言います。彼の考えは、メインストリームの人々から離れ過ぎです。しかし、今の時代は普通ではなく、アメリカは大危機に入っています。アメリカの政治キリスト教右派は、政権をとる為に、その危機をもっと深くする試みをしています。

The American Presidential race will have a nail biting finish.

アメリカ大統領選挙は最後までハラハラドキドキします。
