グレンデール市へメッセージです。 I would like to address the government of the city of Glendale.

By erecting this monument to Comfort Women, you have, in effect, allied the city of Glendale with South Korea.

この従軍慰安婦記念碑を造ると、実に、グレンデール市と韓国は同盟を結びました。

Let us put aside for a moment the historical truths.  Let us consider what type of country South Korea is today, the real story.

歴史の真実をちょっとおいて行きましょう。現在、韓国はどう言う国、韓国の状態を考えましょう。

Jewish American groups, and Israeli’s themselves, are beginning to get upset with Koreans.  Why, the Koreans are claiming that their Comfort Woman’s experience was the same as the Jewish holocaust.

アメリカのユダヤ人団体、それとイスラエル人も、だんだん韓国人にイライラしています。何故か、韓国人が従軍慰安婦の経験はユダヤ人の大虐殺と同じ様な事と言っています。


Here, Korean former Comfort Women are meeting with Jewish holocaust survivors in New York City.

上記の写真で、元韓国従軍慰安婦はニューヨーク市でユダヤ人大虐殺生存者と会いました。

Well, former Israeli ambassador to Japan Eli Cohen was on Japanese cable television a few weeks ago to protest this.  He said, and this is truth, that no other nations experience can compare with the holocaust perpetrated by Nazi’s.

まあ、元イスラエル大使、エリ・コーヘン氏が、日本のケーブルテレビに出て、この韓国人の話を抗議しました。彼の話は、ナチスで行われたユダヤ人大虐殺と、どんな国のどんな経験でも比較する事が出来ません。

This is true.

これは真実です。

But how do South Koreans actually feel about Israel?

しかし、韓国人はイスラエルにたいして、本当にどう言う気持ちが有るのですか？


Take a look at this picture.  It is a demonstration against Israel’s actions in Gaza.  It is occurring in Seoul, in front of the Israeli embassy.  Oh my.

Well, how do South Koreans feel about Americans?

それでは、韓国人はアメリカ人にたいして、どう言う気持ちが有りますか？


Oh my.  They really do not like Americans either.

あらま。アメリカ人も嫌いですね。

Yet America fought a very bloody war to keep South Korea free.  Many Americans died for South Korea.

でも、アメリカは韓国の為に厳しい朝鮮戦争を戦ったでしょう？数多くのアメリカ兵がその戦争で死にました。

Don’t they appreciate that?

韓国人がその事を感謝の気持ちが有りませんか？

Take a look at this poll, taken by the Korean government.

下記は、韓国政府の世論調査です。


A majority of South Koreans feel that if the US makes an attack on North Korea without their permission, they will attack the US.

大多数の韓国人の気持ちで、もし、韓国の許可なしで、アメリカが北朝鮮に攻撃したら、韓国人がアメリカに攻撃します。

There are many US troops and dependents in South Korea.  There are many US civilians living in the country.  They are all at risk.

韓国に、米兵とその家族が数多くいます。普通のアメリカ国民も数多く韓国に住んでいます。皆危ないです。

There are  many Koreans living in America.  The thing is, they do not assimilate, they do not become Americans.  Even if they take American citizenship in their hearts, they remain Koreans.  And South Korea now is taking a distinctive tilt towards China.

アメリカの中で、数多くの韓国人も住んでいます。しかし、彼達はアメリカ社会に同化しません。アメリカ国籍を取っても、心の中でアメリカ人ではなく、韓国人です。現在の韓国はとても中国向きです。

If trouble arose, the loyalty of these Korean people to America is questionable.  And does the City of Glendale support this?

もし、トラブルが有ったら、この人たちのアメリカにたいしての忠実を疑うべきです。グレンデール市はこう言う人たちを支持していますか？

In Japan we are used to such hate.

日本では、そう言う嫌悪を慣れています。

Such children do not do these things naturally.  They must be taught.  Frankly, I think there is something mentally disturbing about adults teaching a young girl to urinate on Japanese national flags.

子供は自然にこう言う行動をしません。誰かが教えているでしょう。正直に言うと、大人が若い少女に日本国旗に排尿する事を、何かおかしいと思います。



Of course, the South Koreans do not only stomp on American and Israeli flags, Japanese flags get the same treatment.  This is the entrance to a Korean university.

勿論、韓国人はアメリカとイスラエルの国旗だけを踏みません。日本国旗を同じ様な事をしています。上記の写真は、大学の入り口です。

These same teachers that teach hate about Japan, also teach that the leadership of North Korea is working for Korean reunification.

この日本嫌悪を教えている学校の先生は、北朝鮮のリーダーシップは韓国・北朝鮮の統一の為に努力していると言う教育をしています。

So what did America fight for in 1950 to 1953?

それで、１９５０年から１９５３年まで、アメリカは何の為に戦いましたか？

As far as prostitution goes, it is one of the main businesses of South Korea.  Here are photos of women demonstrating for their right to be prostitutes.

売春とは、現在の韓国のメインの産業の一つです。下記の写真は、売春を行う権利を求めて抗議している韓国の女性たちです。




They are attempting to set themselves on fire.

自分の体に火をつけようとしています。

And South Korean military police still guard prostitutes for use by the South Korean military.

それと、韓国軍警察は韓国兵専用の売春街を警備しています。

Here is such a location near the DMZ.  This is today, right now.  Being guarded by military police means government approval.

And they complain about Japan of 70 years ago?

それで、７０年前の日本の事を文句言いますか？

In Korean society, teachers are the most respected people.  Yet a Korean professor at Seoul university, did research on the Comfort Women.  He interviewed over 50 of them.  He concluded that their testimony was unreliable.

韓国で、先生が一番尊敬されている人です。でも、ソウル大学の先生が慰安婦問題を研究しました。元従軍慰安婦の５０人をインタビューしました。彼の結論は、彼女達の証言は信用出来ません。

For this he was beaten and kidnapped.

その結論の為に、殴られて、誘拐されました。


He was forced to bow to the Comfort Women.

強制的に、従軍慰安婦におじきさせられました。


In America, there are people who make controversial statements about American policy and actions.  People like Oliver Stone or Chalmers Johnson.

アメリカでは、アメリカの活動と政策について論争的なコメントをする人がいます。オリバー・ストーン氏、それともチャルマーズ・ジョンソン氏みたいの人です。

Yet Americans do not kidnap them and humiliate them.  What is wrong with South Koreans?  Does the City of Glendale approve of this?

でも、アメリカ人はこの人たちを誘拐、屈辱させる事をしません。韓国人はどう成っているのですか？グレンデール市がこう言う行動を認めますか？

But finally, I think this truly shows how mentally disturbed Koreans are.  The old city hall of Seoul was built during the period of annexation to Japan.  There was a plan to tear down the old structure.  However, many Koreans protested, considering it’s historic value.  So a new city hall was built behind the old one.

でも、この下記に書いた事で、韓国人が精神的におかしいとよく分かると思います。ソウルの古い市庁舎は日本併合の時に造られました。古い建物を解体する計画が有りました。何人かの韓国人が、歴史的な価値で、抗議しました。それで、古い市庁舎の裏に、新しい建物を造りました。


This is that new building.  It was built after the Japanese earthquake and tsunami of March 2011.  Again, I find this disturbing about Korea.

上記は、その新しい建物です。２０１１年３月の日本の東北地方太平洋沖地震の後に造れました。やはり、精神的に韓国人がおかしいです。

Yes, it does represent a tsunami wave about to engulf the old building.  In America, for some time, relations with Iran have been very difficult.

そうです。古い建物を飲み込む津波です。アメリカでは、何年間にイランと交流が難しいです。

A few years ago there was major earthquake in Iran.  Americans are the kind of people to put aside politics and help in case of natural disaster.

数年前にイランで大地震が有りました。でも、その自然災害の時に、アメリカ人は政治問題をおいといて、人道支援をする国民です。

Yet Koreans celebrate and build monuments to Japanese misfortune?  What kind of people are they?

韓国人は日本人の苦しみを祝って、記念碑を造ります。これはどう言う国民ですか？

And the City of Glendale also supports this?  Ladies and Gentlemen, the people of Glendale have been conned.  Things did not happen like the Koreans say they did.  They are simply using you to attack Japan for their own purposes.

それで、グレンデールがこう言う事を支持しますか？グレンデール市の皆様、貴方達は騙されました。韓国人が言っている歴史が間違いです。韓国人は貴方達を自分達が日本を攻撃する理由の為に利用しています。

I think Americans should leave Koreans to solve their own problems.

やはり、韓国人問題にアメリカ人がかかわらない方がいいです。

日本は移民を必要有りません。 Japan does not need immigrants

I have read of government plans to increase the number of foreigners in Japan.  This is a very dangerous idea that will only create trouble.

日本政府は日本に外国人をいっぱい入れる計画が有るとニュースで読みました。これは、問題にしか成らない危険な提案です。

Japanese people are very honest and kind in dealing with people, and few foreigners are.  Simple as that.  In the 40 years I have lived in Japan, at a guess, I would say that about 80% of the foreigners I have met are worthless.  Small time trouble makers.

日本人は人と取引する時に、優しい、正直です。そう言う外国人は少ないです。それは真実です。私が日本に４０年住んでいる間に会った外国人の４割は、価値が有りません。取るに足らないトラブルメーカーです。

For example, I remember a Mr. A I used to know in the television world.  When he first married his wife, he was teacher at a top English school in Japan.  But after marriage, he quit that job to work in the television business.  Well television is not a reliable line of work.

例えば、私は昔テレビの業界で Aさんと知り合いました。始めに彼は結婚した時に、一流英会話学校の先生でした。結婚してから、その仕事を辞めて、テレビ業界で働く事にしました。まあ、テレビは信頼出来る収入に成りません。

You might make some money for a short time, but long term income is virtually impossible.  Because he lacked money, he lived with his wife’s family.  Because he was an American, he refused to obey the rules of a Japanese household, insisting on his own way.

有る期間にお金を稼ぐかも知れないけれど、長期間で収入を守る事は不可能でしょう。この人はお金が無いから、奥さんの家族と一緒に暮らしました。アメリカ人でしたから、その家のルールを従う事を拒否して、自分の生活のスタイルを要求しました。

Eventually, his wife divorced him.  But his condition for divorce was that his wife wait until he applied for a permanent residence visa.

やはり、そのうちに離婚に成りました。この人の離婚条件は、彼が日本の永住権を取れるまで奥さんが我慢する事でした。

I once met him on the film set after his divorce.  He was living in a old wooden apartment in Tokyo.  He said that he was on the first floor, and had a small garden, where he grew marijuana.

離婚後で、私はこの人をテレビのセットで会った事が有りました。彼は東京で古い木造アパートに住んでいました。１階に住んで、小さな庭が有って、その庭でマリファナを生長している、と言いました。

I then told Mr.  A about my friends in the Japanese police force and Jieitai.  Very quickly fear came on his face, “Oh I was only joking!”

それで、私は Aさんに、”日本の警察官と自衛官の友達が多い。”と話して、彼の顔が怖い表情に成って、”ああ！只の冗談です！”と急に言いました。

For financial support, this individual dated a rich woman 30 years older than  he was.

経済支援の為に、彼は自分より３０年上の女性とデートしました。

However, I am happy to say he has left Japan.  During the Bubble years, many such foreigners came to Japan.  It was easy to make money.  Now things are more difficult, they don’t want to work hard, so there are many cases of divorce.  And the foreigner, unable to survive, returns to America to whatever fate awaits him in that collapsing country.

この人は日本を出ました。バブル時代に、数多くのこの様な外国人が日本に来ました。現在、経済状態は複雑で、外国人があまり仕事をしないので、離婚のケースも多いです。それでその外国人、日本で生活を出来ないので、間もなく崩壊するアメリカへ戻って、どう言う運命が有るでしょう。

When I worked for a casting office for foreigners on Japanese television, I had trouble with foreigners almost everyday.  One day, the film had a scene with a bankers conference.  A foreigner was necessary for the scene.

昔、私は外国人タレント事務所で働きました。毎日、外国人とトラブルが有りました。ある日、その撮影は、銀行員会議が有りました。そのシーンの為に、外国人の一人が必要でした。

Well, a banker wears a dark colored conservative suit.  My foreigner came in a cream colored sport jacket, a plaid working man’s shirt, blue jeans, tennis sneakers, and his necktie was a Donald Duck necktie.

まあ、銀行員は紺色みたいな保守的なスーツを着ます。その日、私の担当する外国人は、クリーム色なスポーツジャケット、格子縞のシャツ、ブルージーンズ、白い運動靴、それとネクタイはディズニーのドナルドダックでした。

Of course the scene could not be filmed, my company was fined ¥500,000.

勿論、撮影が中止で、私の会社の罰金は、￥５００，０００でした。

The day before, the office called him about a the job, and confirmed that he had a suit and would wear it.  He said it was our fault, we did not tell him specifically what color the suit had to be.

その前日、事務所から電話をして、スーツを着る様に確認しました。仕事の日、その外国人は私たちの方がどう言う色のスーツと言わなかったから、私達が悪いと言いました。

One time, I was a on a popular TV show, doing a parody comic skit every week.  I played the father, there was the wife and two children.  The show was becoming very popular.

私は昔人気テレビ番組に毎週出演して、コミックパロディな芝居をしました。私はお父さん役で、お母さん、子供二人もいました。だんだん、その番組が大人気に成りました。

To be on the show, we had to promise that we would be in Japan and available for two years.

その仕事を受ける為に、その時より２年間日本にいる約束でした。

However, after 4 months, the parents of the children said that they were returning to America.  They admitted to me that they lied so that their children could have some work.  These were people working for major American corporations.

しかし、４ヵ月が経ってから、その子供の親がアメリカへ帰国すると言いました。数ヵ月の仕事を受けたいがばかりに嘘をついていたのです。その親達が私にそう言う事をはっきり言いました。この子供二人の家族は、アメリカ大企業の人たちでした。

Foreigners often lie and cheat.  If they can cheat money out a Japanese person one time, they feel as if they have made a great accomplishment.  They simply cannot understand that they have destroyed trust, and a future relationship.

外国人はよく嘘を言う、騙しを行います。一時的に、日本人にお金を騙す事が出来ると、偉い事をしたと思っています。信用を失った、将来の縁を壊した事を理解出来ません。

It does seem that the government plan is concentrate on South East Asian people, from poorer countries.  Yet they will work in Japan for very low wages, like salve laborers.  They will look at the Japanese lifestyle around them, and become envious.

政府の計画は、東南アジアの人々を中心的に日本に移民させるみたいです。ほとんど、日本より貧困の国でしょう。しかし、日本でギャラが低い仕事に、奴隷みたいに働きます。だんだん周りの日本人の生活を見て、焼きもちに成ります。

Crime and trouble will be the result.

その結果は、犯罪とトラブルです。

Different religions will cause problems, like this Saudi man who destroyed Buddhist statues in Asakusa Tokyo.

違う宗教もトラブルの原因に成ります。サウジアラビアの男性が東京の浅草で仏教のお地蔵様を壊しました。

And many Japanese will remain unemployed.  This is American style of business operation.  That is too use people as cheaply as possible.  I have heard certain Japanese company officers who repeat what American Capitalists say; that people are too stupid or lazy.

それと、数多くの日本人が仕事を有りません。これは、アメリカのビジネススタイルです。出来るだけ人を安く利用する、使い捨てと言う事です。何人もの日本の企業リーダー達がこう言う哲学を真似したいみたいです。アメリカの企業リーダー達の話を繰り返ししている、普通の人は愚かな、怠け者です。

America is now a country with a great imbalance of wealth.  It facing collapse, which will bring massive social disorder.

アメリカは格差がひどい国です。現在、崩壊はまもなく、社会は大混乱に成るでしょう。

Is that what we want for Japan?

日本はこう言う状態に成っていいですか？

In the Meiji era, it was true that Japan needed foreign experts in many fields, such a railroad building.  But today, Japanese engineers and workers are just about the best in the world.

明治時代に、色々な職業、例えば鉄道を造り、日本は外国の専門家の知識を必要でした。でも、現在、日本の技術者、労働者は世界一です。

We do not need to import foreign experts, Japanese are experts.

移民の専門家は必要ない、日本人は専門家です。

And I really think Japanese language ability should be a requirement for a permanent residence permit.  Generally, the good foreigners speak Japanese.

永住権に、日本語力を必要にした方がいいと思います。だいたい、いい外国人が日本語を出来ます。

If a person wants to live in this country, they should speak our language, and obey our customs.  If they want to change Japan to their way of live, they should leave.

日本に住みたい人が日本語を喋るべきで、日本の習慣に従うべきです。もし日本を自分の国の生活に変えたい気持ちが有る場合、帰ってほしいです。

America is collapsing, of that there is no doubt.  So why should we, in Japan, listen to people who have destroyed their country?

アメリカ崩壊が明らかに成っています。何故日本人が自分の国を壊した人の話に従うですか？

Japan has nothing more to learn from foreigners.  In fact, we have much to teach them, if only Americans would listen.

日本はもう外国人から学ぶ事が有りません。逆に外国人に教える事がいっぱい有ります。でも、アメリカ人は本当に私たちの話をちゃんと聞くかな？

A lot of Japanese people are making misinterpretations of President Obama’s declaration.  There are many people who seem to think that this is a chance to review the Kono statement.

数多くの日本人は、オバマ大統領の声明の誤訳をしています。数多くの人の考えで、河野談話が間違っているのを説明するチャンスと思っているみたいです。

No.  This is wishful thinking.  The President of America is very serious.  As far as he is concerned, discussion is over.  He has decided that Japan was terrible to Korea.

違います。これは、夢想です。アメリカ大統領は、本気です。彼の立場で、討論が終わりました。彼は日本が当時韓国にひどい事をしたと決定しました。

Now will come Japanese obedience.  This is the President’s meaning.  If Japan tries to discuss the Kono statement, he will only get angry.

アメリカ大統領の考えで、これから日本は従うべきです。これが、大統領の意味です。もし日本代表が河野談話を検討しようとするなら、大統領は怒ります。

President Obama is going to enforce all demands by Koreans upon Japan.

オバマ大統領はこれより韓国の日本にたいしての要求をすべて強要するでしょう。

OK, here is what I think will happen.

それでは、私の予想でこう言う事に成るでしょう。

Koreans will write new Japanese school textbooks.  They will teach Japanese children that Japan is a terrible country, that did horrible things to Korea.

韓国人は新しい日本の学校の教科書を書きます。日本の子供に、日本が恐ろしい国だったと教えます。

That all Japanese culture originated in Korea, Japan stole it.

すべての日本の文化は朝鮮から始まりました、日本人が盗みました。

They will teach that Japanese owe a cultural debt to Korea, and must support Korea financially.

韓国人は日本が韓国に文化的な恩が有ると教えて、これより韓国を経済的に支援する必要が有ります。

Koreans will push for taxes on average Japanese people to support Koreans.

韓国人は、普通の日本人に韓国を支えるために税金を要求します。

Koreans will demand that Yasukuni shrine be closed and destroyed.

韓国人は靖国神社を閉鎖し、潰せるように要求します。


Public display and use of the Rising Sun Flag is too be banned.

旭日旗の公共の使用は禁止に成ります。

Now these things I am guessing.  But I think these are likely Korean demands.

上記の事は、推測です。でも、韓国人はこう言う事を要求するでしょう。

By his statement, President Obama is saying that he will support Korea in it’s demands upon Japan.

オバマ大統領の声明で、彼は日本に韓国の要求を支持すると言っています。

Many Americans believe the source of trouble is that Japanese leaders worship at Yasukuni shrine, and that Japanese people say the Comfort Women system was not bad.

数多くのアメリカ人の考えで、現在の問題の原点は、日本のリーダーが靖国神社の参拝をして、それと日本人の戦争従軍慰安婦システムはひどくないの話です。

The Americans are afraid that Korea will leave the America/Japan/South Korea alliance.

アメリカ人は日米韓同盟から韓国が撤退する事を恐れています。

The Koreans are saying that they are mad at Japan.  So to satisfy Koreans, according to the Americans, Japan must subordinate itself to Koreans.

韓国人は日本に怒っていると言っています。それで、韓国人を満足させる為に、アメリカ人の意見で、日本は韓国に従属するべきです。

I have been in private contact with some American officials on this matter.

この問題について、私は個人的にアメリカの官僚と連絡しています。

I have tried to convince them that the History of Japan’s annexation of Korea was beneficial, not bad.

彼達に、韓国（当時は大韓帝国）の日韓併合は悪くない、当時韓国が良く成った真実を納得する試みをしました。

I have told them that the Koreans are not only interested in compensation, but their true goal is subordination and humiliation of Japan.

韓国人の目標は只援助だけではなく、日本の屈辱、従属をする事を言いました。

They understand that, but they say that the true history must be hidden. They are very afraid of what the Koreans will do if they are not satisfied.

アメリカ人達はこれを理解しているが、本当の歴史をしばらく隠すべきと返事しました。本当に、韓国人が満足しないと、どうするか恐れています。

The truth is, Americans are very suspicious of Japan.  It is easy for them to accept Korean lies as truth.

My background contacts with American officials, they seem to think that the only people in Japan who are angry are a few Right Wingers.

I have tried to convince them the entire population of Japan is very angry about the issue.  The problem here is that too many high ranking Americans spend all their time talking to Japanese officials in Nagatacho.

I spend my time in Shinjuku’s Omoide Yokocho.  I think I have better idea what the average Japanese person thinks.

The Americans think that if a few Japanese scholars participate in this new apology to Koreans, the Japanese population will accept it.

アメリカ人の考えで、数人の日本人学者がこの新しい韓国への謝罪に参加すると、日本国民は受け入れます。

I have tried to tell them that Japan will explode.  The Americans are not listening.

私は、日本が爆発すると言いました、しかし、アメリカ人は聞いていません。

I really do not think that Americans want to hurt Japan.  They simply are too afraid of the Koreans leaving the alliance.  I do not think they understand how the Korean demands will snowball and try to change Japanese society.

アメリカ、民主党でも、日本に損害したいと思っていません。やはり、単に韓国の同盟の撤退が怖いです。でも、アメリカ人は韓国人の要求がどのくらい増えるのか理解していません。

But once America starts backing Korean demands, starting with the Comfort Women issue, it will be hard to stop.  They have made a terrible misjudgment.

しかし、従軍慰安婦問題で始まり、アメリカ人が韓国の要求を支持すると、止める事が難しく成るでしょう。アメリカ人はひどく誤った判断をしました。

What should we do?

We have to tell Republicans that what President Obama has done is very dangerous.  We have to convince American Republicans that this time, Japanese people are not going to accept America backing insane Korean demands on Japan.

Personally, I believe that President Obama simply hates Japan. He is letting his emotions influence policy.

They are guarded by Korean military police.  This means the system is supported by the government.  The location in the above link is 40 kilometers from Panmunjon.

But that is not their main interest.  Oh yes of course they want money.  But they also want to subordinate Japanese society to Korean society.  This is their true goal.

Mr. President, your actions are not contributing to a solution.   The Koreans will demand more and more, things Japan cannot except.  While the Japanese government may seem compliant, the people no longer are.

And in South Korea, he made a promise that Prime Minister Abe will make further apologies for the Comfort Women issue.

In fact, the basic meaning of his statement in English is this.  Concerning the issue, South Korea is totally correct.  Japan is totally wrong.  President Obama said Prime Minister Abe understands that Japan is wrong.

So now, by the meaning of his words, President Obama will be expecting Japan to make more payments, more apologies to Korea.  And accept South Korean demands in every way.

As far as the history issue concerning the Comfort Problem, President Obama has said that is settled.  Japan is bad.  No more discussion.  And President Obama has said that Prime Minister Abe understands this.  President Obama expects that Japan will obey.

I do know that Americans are desperate to improve what they perceive to be an American led alliance against North Korea and China.

In any case, people worry too much about North Korea having a couple of nuclear weapons.  Such an arsenal is not aggressive, it is defensive.

If North Korea one day decided to shoot a nuke at the US or Japan, America’s response would vaporize the country.

South Korea, on the other hand, is in some kind of fantasy about history.  Not only do they fabricate stories of abuse by Japan during the war, when they were an integral and enthusiastic part of the Japanese Empire, they are attempting to recreate some past “Great Korean Empire” that never ever existed.

Recently, there was a tragic ferry disaster off the Korean southwestern coast.  Prime Minister Abe immediately offered Japanese help.

最近、韓国南西海岸沖で、悲惨なフェリー災害が有りました。早速、安倍総理大臣が日本海上保安庁の救助隊の派遣を申し出ました。

Japan has an extensive and well equipped Coast Guard, with 220 rescue divers.  The next nearest source of foreign help would have been the US Navy in Japan.  They probably have divers, I do not know.  But these divers would be trained and equipped for Special Forces type missions.

The Japanese help would have been the most numerous, best equipped, and nearest force.

Yet South Korea not only refused to accept foreign help, but in the news media, they at first hid reports of Prime Minister Abe’s offer.

So what is it, Koreans would rather have their children die than be rescued by Japanese?  Perhaps we should ask the feelings of the families of the dead children their feelings here.

On the net, I have read that some South Korean Maritime official in refusing foreign help, remarked “We are not a 3rd class country”.

Of course, there is no guarantee that Japan could have rescued anybody.  It is a terrible disaster.  But the Japanese Coast Guard would have made it’s best effort.

勿論、日本が絶対に子供達の救助が出来た事を約束出来ません。ひどい災害です。しかし、日本海上保安庁は一生懸命頑張ったでしょう。

On the net, I have read various comments from South Koreans that the accident was Japan’s fault.

Why?  Well the ship was built in Japan.  During the period when Korea was part of Japan, Japanese started the custom of school trips.  So the children died because of Japan.

何故？船は日本産です。当時朝鮮は日本と併合された時代、日本が修学旅行の習慣を紹介しました。それで、子供達の死亡は日本の責任です。

These are not rational arguments.  Yes the ship was built in Japan.  But Koreans made extensive modifications.  After the modifications, the ship could carry 1,000 tons of cargo.

これは正式の話では有りません。確か、この船は日本で生産しました。しかし、韓国で多数の改造をしました。改造後、このフェリーは荷物１，０００トンを運ぶ事が可能でした。

However it turns out that the ship was carrying 3,600 tons of cargo alone.  That means it could only make very slow, gradual turns.  The area where the disaster happened is very difficult, with many islands and rocks.

The Captain was not on the bridge, but in his cabin.  He left a 25 year old 3rd mate in charge in such a dangerous area.  After the accident, the crew panicked.

President Obama steps into all this telling us to make up and be friends.

Mr. President, it will not work, this problem is much more complex than that.  It simply cannot be solved by telling both countries to get along.

I think that the US President should learn the reality of the history between Japan and Korea.

And the President should understand the feelings of Japanese people on this issue.  Enough apologies for things that Japan did not do.

South Korea is now going to be quick to attack Japan.  Frankly speaking, the ferry rescue was totally botched.  Why did it take 3 days for rescuers to first enter the ferry?  If it had been a Japanese rescue force, they would have been inside in a couple of hours.

これから韓国は早速に日本を攻撃するでしょう。正直に言うと、フェリー救助活動は完璧に失敗でした。どうして救助隊が船の船体に入るまでに３日間かかりましたか？日本の救助隊だったら、数時間で入ったでしょう。

Families of the victims are demanding autopsies of the recovered bodies.  They want to know the precise time their children died.  Well, that is fair.

犠牲者の家族が、遺体の検死を要求しています。はっきりに、自分の子供が死んだ時間を知りたいです。まあ、それは公平的です。

When President Park appeared at the site to express condolences, people threw things at her.

This is now become a serious enough incident, that could topple her from power.

So naturally, she will attack Japan to divert attention from her domestic disaster.

And by his statement, saying the Korean version of events is totally correct, by implication, President Obama has to support her in whatever way she attacks Japan.

Or he will be seen as a liar.

I think President Obama has made an extreme strategic error.  He placed Japan in a position, that to continue the Japanese American relationship, we must surrender again.  We must accept whatever South Korea does to us, and America will enforce it.

The facts of course are South Koreans are lying about the whole affair.  All the terrible things they say, they made it up.  But now Japan has to accept these lies, or America will punish Japan?

This is the end of the Japanese American relationship as it has been since the Pacific War.  It will be changed greatly.  In fact, the President of America has placed us in a situation just short of war.

America is quite worried about the continuing acrimony over history between South Korea and Japan.  They are worried about damaging the Alliance against North Korea and China.

In this meeting, President Park was extremely rude.  Allright, Prime Minister Abe said hello in Korean.  He is not a linguist, he is the Prime Minister.  However, it is normal diplomatic custom when a leader makes a greeting in some other county’s language, no matter how awful the pronunciation, it is custom to respond politely.

この会議で、朴大統領はとても失礼でした。安倍総理大臣は韓国語で挨拶しました。彼は日本総理大臣です、語学者では有りません。しかし、国のリーダーが外国語で挨拶する時に、発音がひどいでも、丁寧に返事する事は外交の習慣です。

President Park ignored the greeting.  In fact, she sat through the entire meeting Stone Faced, it was painful to watch.

But she did not really insult Prime Minister Abe.  Since President Obama set up the meeting, she insulted him, and the United States of America.

America, I have some news for you.  North Korea is not the danger.

People may be surprised when I say this.  But think for a moment.  Certainly, North Korea is a bizarre place.  That is my favorite word to describe that country, bizarre.

However, the North Korean government has one overriding goal.  That is the preservation of the Kim government.  It is better if we think of them as a Royal family.

しかし、北朝鮮政府は一つの主要な目標が有ります。それは金（キム）政権を守る事です。その金家族を王族として考えた方がいいです。

If the Kim’s fall, the country descends into chaos.  Yes, they will do provocative things to get attention, and foreign aid.  But they are not going to start an all out war.  They know they will lose, and lose badly.

金家族が崩壊すると、その国が混乱に成ります。まあ、援助を受ける為に、扇動的な行動をします。しかし、戦争を開始しません。自分達が負けるひどい状態で負ける事をよく分かっています。

I really don’t think they will actually throw a missile into Japan.  They need Japanese money too much.

South Korea, however has entered the world of fantasy.  They are engaging in dreams of a Great Korean Empire.

しかし、韓国は空想な世界に入っています。大韓帝国を造る夢に入っています。

If the United States made a retaliatory attack on North Korea for some provocation, nearly half of South Koreans say they would attack the US.

もしアメリカが何とか北朝鮮の扇動で反撃したら、韓国人の半分はアメリカに攻撃します。


There are some 27,000 US troops in South Korea.  There are also many Americans who live there as English teachers.  Koreans can be a violent people, in a crisis, these people would not be safe.

With all their lies and exaggerations about history with Japan, and going around the world, saying how terrible Japan is, South Koreans are not behaving like a normal nation.

Well, the real thing is, they are not so much complaining about Japan now, but Japan 70 years ago.

This would be comical, except that with the behavior of leaders like President Park, they are trying to make this Great Korea into reality.

There are people in South Korea who believe that if North and South Korea quickly unified, they could form a Great country and then overcome Japan.

If I could give advice to Koreans, I would advise them to go slow, to take baby steps.  I understand their desire for unification.  After all, I am an ethnic German.  I was very pleased to see Germany reunited.  Frankly, I did not think it could happen in my lifetime.

もし私が北朝鮮人、韓国人に相談が出来ると、統一の事にたいしてゆっくり、少しずつ動いて下さいと言います。私は統一したい気持ちをよく理解します。まあ、私はドイツ民族です。私はドイツの統一の時に喜びました。正直に言うと、私が生きている時に不可能と思いました。

But there are serious differences between the two Germany’s and the two Korea’s.  East Germany was the showpiece of the Communist world.  A West German could freely visit East Germany.  Telephone and postal communication existed throughout the Cold War period.

しかし、両方のドイツと両方のコリアについて大きな違いが有ります。旧東ドイツは共産主義世界の最も素晴らしい国でした。旧西ドイツ人が自由に旧東ドイツに訪問が出来ました。冷戦時代で電話でも郵便でもの繋がりが有りました。

And when the reunification did happen, it turned out that many West Germans had a deep feeling of superiority over the Easterners.

統一後、やはり西ドイツ人が東ドイツ人にたいして強い優越感を持ちました。

It is virtually impossible for a South Korean to visit the North.  There is no telephone or mail communication.  There are some smuggled DVD’s in the North, but people there have only a vague idea what life in the South is like.

韓国人は北朝鮮に訪問する事が不可能です。電話でも郵便の繋がりは有りません。北朝鮮でいくつの韓国の密輸入されたDVDが有るけれど、北朝鮮の人々は韓国の現実をあまり分かりません。

And of the few reunification themes I have read, it seems that South Koreans assume that their social order will prevail.  What will happen is that there will be tremendous shock on the Northern side.

But we must remember, that these Northerners will be mostly armed.  No, they do not possess weapons at home.  However, there is an extensive militia system throughout the country.  If the Kim government fell, I think anarchy would be the result in the North.

Well the truth is, in the Korean war, Korea did get caught between Super power rivalry.  On one hand the United States, on the other the Soviet Union and Communist China.

America did drive into North Korea in 1950, but was repulsed by Chinese armies.  Any further attempt to reunify the country would have resulted in World Wide nuclear war.

The United States was not going to sacrifice Chicago and New York to reunify South Korea.  And the Soviet Union would not sacrifice Leningrad.  These are sad facts.

There is an English language expression:  Better half of loaf of bread, than nothing at all.

Koreans of that age understood this.  Today, South Koreans have a much better life than people in the North.

Well, three years ago, Japanese and South Korean relations were fantastic, there was major Korean cultural boom in Japan.  With their Comfort Women memorials and comics, the Koreans have destroyed this.  They have also caused Japanese Americans to take more pride in their ethnic background.

And the Koreans in America, they are not acting like Americans, they are citing like Koreans in America.  It is an American rule that you don’t bring ethnic feuds from the old country into America.

So yes, I think that South Koreans can be so stupid as to cause more trouble.

クリミア Crimea

A few weeks ago, Russia annexed the Crimea.  Right away, America and Western news media labeled this as an aggressive move by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

数週間前に、ロシアはクリミアを併合しました。早速、アメリカと西洋のマスコミがロシアウラジーミル・プーチン大統領が攻撃的行為を行っていると報道しました。

A plebiscite was held in the Crimea, which was denounced by President Obama.

クリミアで国民投票が有って、アメリカ・オバマ大統領がその投票を非難しました。

However, things are not always so easily defined.  It turns out that Ukrainian members of the Ukrainian Parliament took advantage of the chaos to remove the Russian language’s status as an official language.

しかし、国と国の活動はそんなに簡単に決められません。ウクライナの議会でエスニックウクライナの議員が社会の混乱を利用して、公用語としてロシア語の地位を追い出したことが、わかります。

In other former Soviet republics, this has always led to discrimination and harassment of Russian people.

And Russia has enough nuclear weapons to destroy America in 30 minutes.

When Americans criticize Russia for being an evil nation, I have much sympathy.  It sounds just the same as Americans criticizing the Japanese Yasukuni shrine.  The words are the same.

アメリカ人がロシアを悪の国として非難する時に、私には多くの同情が有ります。アメリカ人が日本の靖国神社を非難しているのと同じ様に聞きます。言葉が同じです。

Americans say “Russia is a country that cannot be trusted.  Japanese people who have pride in Imperial Japan cannot be trusted.”

”ロシアは信用出来ない国です。日本帝国時代に誇りを持っている日本人を信用出来ません”、アメリカ人がこう言います。

Well, in any case, the American President is trapped in such a situation as this.  If he does not make some aggressive comment to Russia, he will be accused by American political opponents as being weak.

とにかく、こう言う問題が有る時に、アメリカの大統領が罠に入っています。もし、ロシアが悪と言わない場合、アメリカの政敵が大統領に弱虫として攻撃します。

I have always admired the Russian people for their forbearance with America breaking it’s promise.

このNATOの東への拡大でアメリカが約束を破った事を、私はロシア人の寛容を魅力的に考えています。

But I think there is some business aspect to this problem.  Americans have always been upset about Russian Natural Gas exports to Europe.  America wants to supply the gas themselves, and say that Shale Gas deposits in the US will give them that ability.

しかし、この問題についてビジネスの面が有るかも知れません。アメリカ人は前からロシアのヨーロッパへの天然ガスの輸出の事に怒っています。アメリカ人は自分でヨーロッパにガスを売りたい、アメリカ人の話でシェールガスで可能と言います。

Is this true?  Not at all.

America does not have the infrastructure, special ships, pipelines and terminals, to export Natural Gas.
